Latest Update

I wanted to update everyone with the latest information regarding the family reunion. The vote was unanimous in favor of the Navy Lodge Hotel and Beach Houses. I have booked hotel rooms at the North Island Naval Base on Coronado Island. The hotel rooms are $80/night and have 2 queen beds, microwave, refrigerator and a private bath. Amenities include: Free local telephone calls, hairdryer, highchair, free daily in-room coffee, ice, free daily newspaper, snack vending, picnic grounds, barbecue grills/tools, air conditioning, FAX/Copy service, microwave, radio/clock, cribs, dining table, irons/ironing boards, on-site laundry facilities, sunbathing patio with furniture, private bath, ocean front lodge.

I was able to get updated information about the beach houses next door to the hotel. I should be able to reserve two units that are part of a duplex. I will likely not be able to reserve these units until the middle of February. Each unit sleeps up to 6 people. Each unit has 2 bedrooms; the master has a queen, 2 twins in the other, and a pull out hide a bed in the living room. Each unit also comes with a kitchen(fridge/oven/stove/microwave) that is stocked with pots/pans/utensils. The two units share a common wall with a door allowing direct access between the two. I will let the family know if and when I am able to get the beach houses reserved. The beach houses will be where most of the food is prepared since there are no kitchens in the hotel. The beach houses will run between $110-120/night per unit.

At this point I would like to find out who all is planning on coming to the family reunion and how many hotel rooms you would like. The reunion is set for the week of July 24-30. If you are planning on attending please also let me know how many days you would like to stay. I think I have enough hotel rooms to cover everyone at this point, but if I need to reserve more I need to know sooner than later. There is no cancellation fee, so if you think you might come please let me know. We can cancel your reservation up to the same day as your scheduled check in without any cancellation fee, so you are not committing to anything at this point.

Most of us do not have families of 4. If families want to share rooms with each other please coordinate who you will share with and let me know. Once I am able to reserve the beach houses we can coordinate who will be staying in them.

Other Information:

In addition to being on the beach there is a baseball field nearby that could be used for playing baseball, football, or whatever. The base also has a grocery store, a food court, and bowling alley. The base is located adjacent to Coronado, one of the nicer beaches in San Diego.
